Why i paint…

Paintings rooted in feeling, intention, and connection.

"I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way."

Artist Statement:

We all need a way to process this life. A writer writes. I paint.

My paintings are my journal — they begin from the inside. What starts as something felt slowly finds its form through color and mark-making, layers building and obscuring until something true emerges. This is how I process my emotions, my triumphs, my stumbles.

My way of letting my inner self say:

Hello, I am here — and say it out loud.

My subjects aren't realistically portrayed — that's not the point. I'm not painting what things look like. I'm painting what they feel like from the inside out.

And when that translation works, the personal becomes shared. The viewer finds their own moment in it — a pause, a breath, a quiet recognition. We are all so unique, and somehow that's exactly what connects us.

Through layers of color and texture, I paint with feeling — and invite you to feel too. Honestly, that connection is what keeps me coming back to the studio.

HOW i KEEP gROWING

Working in acrylic, mixed media, and oil, I paint in my studio on the island of Kauai. I'm self-taught, painting throughout my life and working consistently and intentionally since 2020 — seeking out courses, programs, and communities that have kept me connected to something larger than the studio.
